Richard Shaffer has been involved in code certification inspections, elevator maintenance evaluations, elevator system design, due diligence studies, reserve studies, and problem resolution since 1968. His expertise is in the evaluation of existing elevator systems, including identification of deficiencies (including ADA and life safety issues), recommendations for repair and modernization, life extension recommendations, and preparation of detailed specifications for competitive bid.
His prior experience includes positions as Regional Manager of Kone/O&K Elevator/Escalator Corp., Modernization Manager for Amtech Reliable Elevator, Regional Service staff member for Otis Elevator Company, and Project Manager with design responsibilities for Schindler Elevator Corporation.
Mr. Shaffer is the cochairman of the District Of Columbia Elevator Code Committee and is actively involved in assisting the District Of Columbia in the interpretation of existing codes and the adoption of new codes.

Elevator (Vertical Transportation) Code Certification Inspector

Larry Richitt has extensive experience in performance of code certification inspections, elevator maintenance services, elevator modernization installations, elevator repair functions, and installation of elevator equipment. He has over forty years of elevator industry experience, with particular expertise in the evaluation of existing elevator systems for code compliance and safety.
His prior experience includes positions as elevator maintenance mechanic, elevator modernization mechanic, and elevator repair mechanic with various elevator companies. He is a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors. He has worked with ACI as a certified elevator inspector performing code and safety inspections for over three years.

Nancy Shaffer has been involved in elevator maintenance evaluations, due diligence studies, reserve studies, and problem resolution since 1993. Her expertise is in the evaluation of existing elevator systems, including identification of deficiencies (including ADA and life safety issues), recommendations for repair, and preparation of detailed reports for corrections of deficiencies. Her prior experience includes positions with the Armor Elevator Company and the Haughton Elevator Company. Immediately prior to joining Atlantic Consulting Inc. she was actively involved in the management of luxury residential properties.

Daniel L Zito, PE (SAI Engineering)
Project Mechanical Engineer

Daniel L Zito is a professional engineer with over 16 years of experience in mechanical diagnosis and system design. His role with HVAC systems operations and automatic controls is especially critical to the ACI team’s success. His experience includes survey, condition inspection, analysis, and design for the mechanical systems for the renovation of the Pentagon. He also has extensive experience as a team leader for the inspection of the District of Columbia Public Schools, George Washington University, Harrods of London, and numerous other projects. ACI has worked with Mr. Zito on numerous due diligence condition evaluation studies and reserve studies in the Washington area.

Maury R Paslick, PE (SAI Engineering)
Project Electrical Engineer

Maury Paslick is a professional engineer with more than 20 years of experience in electrical engineering. His recent experience includes the University of Houston’s downtown renovation, Texas A&M University’s CE/TTI/EDG Building, renovation of the Pentagon, and the Southwest Texas State University Football Stadium. His previous positions include principal-level electrical engineering responsibilities with Esmond & Clifford (3D/I) and Bernard Johnson Young, Engineers.
